I want to make a change BUT I do not have enough time
January 11, 2023Is researching and learning turning into procrastination?
It has never been easier to gain information. You can google and you will get endless interesting information, new courses, free content, seminars, YouTube content, ted talk, new groups, and so on. There is an infinite resource at your fingertips almost 24 hours a day. It is amazing, but sometimes it is hard to know when to stop.
Procrastination is a fancy word for not doing things. But the question is why are you not doing the things you want to do? Are you lazy? Are you scared? Are you “busy”?
What is the reason you give yourself, for delaying things?
When do you stop?
When do you have enough information?
The answer is you will never have enough information!
You just have to decide when to stop and start doing it.
The problem starts when you want to start something, like a new business, but you are waiting to gain more information.
There’s always something else to read, listen to, or study, and you never feel like you know “enough” to take the next step. How many times have you said: Just one more article…one more course….one more …. and suddenly another week’s gone by without you going forward.
When is the time to stop learning and start doing?
Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking~ Albert Einstein
One of the best ways to learn something is to put it into practice.
You learn something new, a new technique, a new skill, don’t just sit on that information, use it. You must start applying what you learn and stop yourself from learning more on the subject before practicing what you have previously learned.
I am not saying stop learning. Learning is a lifelong journey. If you stop learning new things, you stagnate, you have to take action.
Learning can become a way to avoid taking action, and by not taking action you will not get the results you desire.
You will never know everything, and you don’t need to know everything in order to get started.
The thing that I have come to realize is that knowledge does not necessarily drive results. In fact, learning something new can actually be a waste of time. Too much knowledge can easily make things confusing.
Learning something new and putting what you have learned into practice is very different.
Like starting your own business. You can read as much as you want and get an enormous amount of knowledge BUT you have to be able to implement what you have learned. To implement means that you have to start taking action and start doing.
When you want to take action, you have to set boundaries and time limits on learning.
A good thing to do before you start on your project is to make a plan:
- What is your goal?
- How much time do you have?
- Decide how much time you can spend on “googling” before you execute.
- Set a time limit on education
- Make a timeline for your project.
- Set a date for the execution.
You have to take the leap and you will never be 100% ready, you are only one step away from your dream.

Make a decision
We are always making decisions. From the moment we wake up, what we eat, and what we do throughout the day. According to researchers, we are making about 35.000 choices a day.
Be aware that when you chose not to start your journey you are making a decision!
Where you are going to be in five to twenty years from now is all based on the decisions you are making now. So be aware of your choices and choose wisely!
Time to ask yourself:
If I want to be at XXXX in 5 years, what decisions do I need to make to accomplish what I want?
